Today we took a private tour myself my two parents and my little sister all we can say was wow.We knew that there was animal life out there and in 50 degree weather we were not expecting too much. Captain George , was definitely a local we could barely understand his accent but he knew exactly where to take us.He must have pointed out over 25 different species of birds and cranes we were visited by brown and white pelicans, he spotted one raccoon a nutria and even pulled a 6-foot alligator out of his hole. We stopped and checked his crawfish traps that was full of life It was worth every bit of what we paid for we were so excited after our private Charter with Captain George. This is a must everyone!!!!!!!!
Best Swamp and Gator tour in the area. My husband and I booked a private tour with Pirate Venture, and it was the highlight of our vacation. We were picked up in a private vehicle from our hotel in the French Quarter (unlike the giant bus for the other tour companies you see driving around). We were offered to stop at the local Piggly Wiggly to pick up some drinks for the tour, which we took advantage of. Our tour boat was a small 4 person boat, which allowed us to get up close and personal with the gators and other wildlife. I think he is the "gator whisperer", as he would call out to them and they would swim right up to the boat. He was able to hand feed about a dozen different Alligators, and some were for the very first time. It was an amazing sight to see. You can tell that he spends a lot of time working with these animals to gain their trust and respect. I think we were out on the water for about 3 hours. One of the best things was that no one else is allowed in the area of the swamp that you are taken, as it is private. On the way back to the FQ, we stopped by the park to see the "Pirate's of the Caribbean" ship that is on display. This was such a personal trip, tailored to what we wanted to do. The price was very reasonable, and I think the captain is genuinely doing what he loves to do. Will definitely take this tour again next time we are in town.
Absolutely by far the best swamp tour in Lafitte. Brent is very knowledgeable about the swamp. He is very personable. Absouetly the best. Thanks for putting us on this big gator.
